Kellevie 24hr

Well after making plans to fly home to see family, I though to myself... What MTB races maybe on while I am home in Tasmania ?

The answer to that question was the Kellevie 24hr challenge, in southern Tasmania.

I thought about it for maybe a minute! Checked with Mum as this was who I was travelling to see, hey can I borrow a car? yep, mind if I go racing for the weekend? Yep no worries. :-)

So the decision was made to go racing..... and what makes this even better its in Tassie where I grew up.

With the Rohloff not making the trip and the help of a close friend Shannon from Black Sheep Imports I will be riding a normally geared bike for the first time in years at a race. So tomorrow will be spent getting use to this new experience.

The other great thing about this race is it = Qualification for the Worlds if! everything including the race plan goes well.

So I fly out next Friday Morning, put my bike together Friday afternoon and go for short ride close to home and get up early Saturday and drive to the race and as friend said tonight GO HARD!

The Present and the Future

My time and thoughts are filled and kept busy looking after my family, riding/training, racing and reaching the world 24 hour solo race in the ACT later this year...

Speaking too and helping family has taken on a new emphasis since October last year so much so I am looking forward to flying to Tassie to see my family later this month. But while I am away my thoughts will still be here in QLD with my very supportive wife, Miriam.

While in Tassie I am looking forward to taking part in the Kellevie 24hr challenge. Once I organised to fly home for sometime, I found out about this race and thought, may as well take the chance not everyday I get to fly around to race bike all night around the bush!

All my other time at the moment is taken up working and every weekday morning between 04.30 and 07.30 and at least one day every weekend is spent on a bike of some kind or another riding/training. The time I get to spend riding is treasured, it allows you to escape those pressures of life if only for a short time.

As for the future!

Make sure my family remain in focus!
&
Continue to meet the commitments in my training allowing me to reach my goals in racing!

A long time between posts!

It has taken me quite a while to sit down and up-date this blog.

Since the last post I made 8 months ago, a lot has changed in my life. It continues to amaze me how your journey through life, very quickly makes you STOP, and realise how important those family and friends who are dear and near are the glue which holds us together when times are good and when the time are bad.

As for the last 8 months it seams to have passed in a blur, but ONE thing I have learnt is to treasure every minute of time we have with family and friends.
